News from the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics
Iowa State’s Leadership Studies Program, which is coordinated by the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics, has undergone several changes, continued growth and university recognition in recent months.
The Catt Center is accepting applications for the 2015 Carrie Chapman Catt Prize for Research on Women and Politics through a postmark deadline of Nov. 25.
A number of departments and academic programs at Iowa State have purchased pavers to honor members of their faculty and staff or outstanding women in their field. In this issue of Voices, we feature three women honored on a paver purchased by the African-American Studies Program. These women were chosen because, according to members of the program, they “shaped the political, cultural, and social life of the U.S.; we hope that their lives and legacies will be an inspiration to all.”

The Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics held a year-end celebration on April 21 in honor of the graduation of more than 40 affiliated students who will be earning their degrees from Iowa State University in May, August or December 2015.
On May 9, 20 Iowa State University students and two faculty departed for a four-week study abroad program in which they will take two leadership courses and explore the history, politics and culture of Sweden.
Ready to Run® Iowa: Campaign Training for Women successfully hosted six workshops on Feb. 13, March 13 and April 24.
Catt Center director Dianne Bystrom and alumna Maggie Luttrell Roby are being honored by the Iowa State Alumni Association in spring 2015.
Attorney, author and political analyst Michelle Bernard was the 27th woman to join the elite group of speakers visiting Iowa State University
through the sponsorship of the Mary Louise Smith Chair in Women and Politics.
Eighteen Iowa State University students were chosen in April to participate in the 2015-2016 inaugural year of the Vermeer International Leadership
Program.
