Center organizing Oct. 3 alumni reunion

CATEGORIES: September 2013, Voices

Students who were affiliated with the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics during their years at Iowa State University are encouraged to come back to campus on Thursday, Oct. 3, for the 2013 alumni reunion.

“Many students came back to campus in October 2012 to help celebrate the Catt Center’s 20th anniversary,” said center director Dianne Bystrom. “Based on their positive feedback, the Catt Center decided to organize another alumni event this fall.”

Catt Center alumni – including Legacy of Heroines scholars, Catt Associates, members of the Advancing Citizenship Together learning community, graduates of the community leadership and public service certificate program, and former interns and staff members – are encouraged to attend some or all of the day’s events.

Events offered to alumni on Oct. 3 include a presentation by Ambassador Karen Hughes, the fall Mary Louise Smith Chair in Women and Politics, on “The CEOs of Leadership: Clarity, Example and Optimism” from noon to 1 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union, followed by a luncheon from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. All alumni and center staff are invited to a meeting from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. in 353 Catt Hall, where they will share updates; and a block of seats has been reserved for the Iowa State vs. University of Texas football game, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the football game can be purchased from the Catt Center for $65 each. All other events are free to Catt Center alumni.

RSVPs are required for the luncheon and football game. Alumni interested in attending either the luncheon and/or football game on Oct. 3 should email the Catt Center at cattcntr@iastate.edu by Wednesday, Sept. 25.
