Dr. Deborah Turner, 22nd president of the League of Women Voters of the United States, will visit Iowa State University on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, as the 2024 Mary Louise Smith Chair in Women and Politics.
In September, the Catt Center two hosted public lectures – “Women, Power and Rape Culture: The Politics and Policy of Underrepresentation” by Bonnie Stabile and “It’s Not Done: Women’s Constitutional Equality” by Karen Kedrowski.
The Catt Center is accepting submissions for the 2023 Carrie Chapman Catt Prize for Research in Women and Politics through Nov. 26. The prize includes a $2,500 cash award for each project selected.

Behind the data: Undergraduate interns work with Catt Center staff to continue the Gender Balance Project research into the impact of Iowa’s gender-balance legislation.
On Oct. 16, the Catt Center will be represented at the 2023 Iowa Council for the Social Studies Conference in Iowa City as both a vendor and a presenter, sharing information about the educational resources available through the center.
