The Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics is pleased to recognize the accomplishments and activities of its faculty, staff, students, alumni and supporters:
Cameron Beatty, associate professor of educational leadership and policy studies at Florida State University, has published “Zora’s First Day at Doggy Daycare,” a children’s book that explores the adventures of Zora the dog as she learns lessons in kindness and embracing new experiences. Beatty was a lecturer in leadership studies at Iowa State from 2013 to 2016.
Delaney Graef, a junior in forestry with a minor in political science, was elected as a Student Government senator representing the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences for the 2025-2026 academic year. Graef, a CyclonesVote student intern at the Catt Center, also serves as president of the Forestry Club and secretary of Xi Sigma Pi, an honor society for forestry and related sciences.
Karen M. Kedrowski, center director, appeared on Iowa Public Radio’s River to River on Feb. 5 to discuss President Trump’s proposal for the United States to take ownership of the Gaza Strip and other political stories of the week. Kedrowski was also interviewed by three Linn-Mar High School students designing a student voter engagement strategy.
Kelly Shaw, teaching professor of political science and associate director of Cyclone Civics, appeared on Iowa Public Radio’s River to River on Jan. 29 and Feb. 26 to discuss political events of the week. On Feb. 8, Shaw presented “Cyclone Civics: A Civic Literacy and Engagement Initiative at Iowa State” at the Political Science Association Teaching & Learning Conference in Alexandria, Virginia.
